In a groups tournament, how do the groups turn into a knockout?
When every group match is finished, press Start the knockout. The top two in each group's table go through, and everyone else is out.
In a Groups, then a knockout tournament, everyone first plays the others in their group. Each group has a table, and it's rebuilt from the results every time a match in that group is finished, reset or given as a walkover, whether the score was tapped in shot by shot on the phone or typed in at the end.
How a group table is ordered
- A win is 3 points, a draw 1, a loss none. A walkover is a win for the player who turned up.
- Level on points? Frames won minus frames lost decides it.
- Still level? Whoever won more frames goes higher.
If two or more players are still level on all three on the line for going through, it's a playoff. Your page names them instead of showing Start the knockout: have them play a deciding frame, then tap who won. The winner goes through, and the knockout button comes back. A playoff is just a decider, so it doesn't count for anyone's points.
Starting the knockout
The top two from each group go through. That's fixed: you can't change it when you make the tournament or after.
When every match in every group is done, your tournament page says Group stage complete (reload the page if the button doesn't show). Press Start the knockout.
The players who went through are drawn into a knockout, and everyone else is out. If it's on the TV, the TV switches from the group tables to the knockout. From there it runs like any knockout.
