What's a bye in a pool tournament?
A bye means you go straight through to the next round without playing a match.
If the number of players doesn't split evenly into matches, someone goes straight through to the next round without playing. That's a bye. Who gets it is random.
A bye doesn't win you any points. It just gets you through.
In tournaments that pair everyone up again every round, there's at most one bye a round, and nobody gets two.
