I won my match. Why did I lose points?
If you were the stronger player, we expected you to win nearly every frame. Drop one and you can lose a few points, even though you won.
Before every match we look at both players' points and work out how it should go. If you're much the stronger player, we expect you to win nearly every frame.
Win them all and you go up. Drop a frame and you did a bit worse than expected, so you can lose a few points, even though you won the match.
It works the other way too. Lose to a much better player but take a frame off them, and you can gain points.
An example
Ali is much better than Ben. Ali wins 2-1. Ali won, but dropped a frame Ali was expected to take, so Ali loses a few points. Ben lost, but took a frame off a much better player, so Ben gains some.
Good to know
- It's usually only a few points.
- Win every frame and you always go up.
- The win still counts. It's on your record.
