I haven't played for a while. Why have I lost points?
You missed a month. Your rating hasn't changed, but you lose 50 points on the leaderboard for each month you miss, until you play again.
Your rating is how good we think you are, and only your results change it. Your points on the leaderboard are your rating, minus anything for months you've missed.
If a venue where you've played runs a competition that counts, and you don't play anywhere that month, you lose 50 points. Each time you play again, up to 3 missed months are cleared, and you get those points back.
An example
Sam plays in June. There's no competition in July. Sam misses the ones in August and September, so Sam loses 50 points for each, and a note beside Sam's points says which months, so anyone can see why.
Sam comes back in October and plays. That clears the missed months, so Sam gets those points back, and then gains or loses some depending on how Sam played.
What it doesn't do
- It never changes your rating.
- It never takes you off the leaderboard.
- A month with no competition doesn't count.
- A month only counts once it's over. Miss the first competition of the month, play the second, and nothing changes.
- It only counts at venues where you've already played.
Why we do it
Your rating only goes down when you lose. Without this, the safest way to stay at the top would be to stop turning up.
